Harkers Island, North Carolina. Down East as they call it. This small island just North of MoreheadCity and Beaufort is a gem of an Island. The backcountry fishing is some of the best on the East Coast. The Flounder, Puppy Drum and Trout just don't get any bigger than in this area. This area is a great jumping off point to the waters of Albemarle Sound, Core Banks, Plymouth Island and all the small unnamed islands inside the outer banks. Offshore fishing is available here too. The natural inlet at Cape Lookout "The Hook" provides an outlet to the "East Side" of Cape Lookout where you can find everything from World War II wrecks to natural Live Bottom to some of the best Red Snapper fishing in the country. If a small sleepy fishing village is what you are seeking. This is the place for you!
