COAST GUARD RESCUES TWO BOATERS IN PAMLICO SOUND | |

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - An HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew based in Elizabeth City, N.C., rescued two boaters in the Pamlico Sound off the coast of North Carolina tonight. Two men were hoisted at 9:08 p.m. from a 27-foot sail vessel that was taking on water and ran aground in the Wysocking Bay located in the Pamlico Sound. The men sustained no injuries and were transported to Air Station Elizabeth City. A 25-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet, N.C., also responded to the case.
