NORTH CAROLINA FISHERIES ASSOCIATION
“Serving Commercial Fishing Families of North Carolinaâ€ÂÂ
NCFA will be in court next week, June 14th at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia over Amendment 13C to the snapper/grouper fishery. Anyone interested in coming o court to support our folks should call the office for details.
Some good news items: NCFA fisherman Bill Brown and his wife Jamie were facing some stiff penalties for what really amounted to VMS glitches related to their vessel. After reviewing the case and the charges I have been told by Jamie that the enforcement folks in Morehead are recommending to NMFS that no charges be brought in this case. NCFA worked with NMFS and the Browns to help solve the issue and all parties deserve thanks for this one; a little dialogue mixed with some common sense went a long way. We hope NMFS honors the recommendations of their enforcement folks in NC. Also:
NCFA Pamlico Auxiliary Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Elizabeth Hope Sadler at ceremonies at Pamlico High School last night. NCFA President Sean Mckeon made the presentation on behalf of the Pamlico Auxiliary.
TRADEWINDS is in, be watching for your issue(s). If you are not receiving TRADEWINDS and should be please call Karen in the office so we can get you on the mailing list. 252-633-2288
