Greetings Folks,
Soon I am going to give the Ol'Girl a Facelift. Couple of things....
Please tell me what you like about the site and what you hate. You will not hurt my feelings....only help me make a build a better site.
My big question is what to do with the front page.
Options....
We can stick with the "News" like we have it now....
We could put the forums on the front page....
We could create a "Weather Module" that give a complete overview of the NC weather right on the front page.
Personally I like the idea of the weather mod on the front page.
I have been kind of "Slack" this year with the "News"...there was just not enough people reading it to make it worth my time to post it.
Do not worry....we will still have all the great featrures that you have come to love....I may even have a trick or two up my sleeve for some new goodies.
So tell me what you LOVE and tell me what you HATE. I am more interested in what you do not like....(So I can fix it and change it)
You are not going to hurt my feelings....I want the BEST site I can possilibly build.

I really like the idea of having weather on the front page. The first thing I usually do is check the weather before going to Fryingpantower.com. It
would be nice to get it all in one place.
This is just a great site any way but little tweaks always help. Keep up the great work.

i know this isn't very helpful, but honestly, I think it's fine the way it is.
I have reefcast as my bookmark, so that's technically my front page. I usually don't even check out the real front page. |

See Bilzo...That is excatly why I am going to facelift it. I want you to go to the front page. Why? That is what the sponcors pay for and without them I would never be able to afford all the stuff that makes this place run.
There are a LOT of bookmarks to the forums page as well...
When we talk about doing the Weather on the Front Page....what thinks would you like to see?
If the Gov puts it out....I can get it and use it. The questions is what is it that ya'll would like to see? (And make you come to the front page instead!)

How about blueoceaneyez winning photo on the welcome page. Sure to bring in more visitors. Had to say it.
Dave however the facelift turns out, it will be fantastic. This website is the total package...........

I love the front page just like it is - But could you move the what does this have to do with fishing BOX to the top of the page and make it bigger??????

A small suggestion...
Whe I go to my college football and basketball forum, and the cursor is moved on top of a forum topic link, a small box of the first 2 or 3 sentences comes up. I have found it helpful to remember what I've read and what I haven't. Not necessarily helping you with the front page, I know. |

well...I guess my commentary was somewhat helpful then.
Here's the list of things I normally look at online that have to do with fishing:
Oregon Inlet Dock Report
Bogue Inlet Pier Report
Avalon Pier Report (not as much lately since they don't update regularly)
NOAA forecast for offshore from hatteras canyon to cape fear.
Aside from reefcast, I get most of my weather stuff from www.wunderground.com. I really like their format of stuff. I'm not trying to plug another site, just telling you what I like.
The front page always just seems very "busy" to me and that's why I avoid it. Reefcast and Forums are the bulk of my activity on here. Once in a while I'll check out wavecast.
I thought the idea of a politics thread was genius. People that wanna discuss it can. Those that want to stay with fishing can ignore it.
It'd be nice if you could kill the threads for some of the charter boats that never post. I find that I don't look down into those threads because there's rarely anything new there. If there was, I'd look more often. |

I'd like to see the reefcast map bigger so it covers SC as well as NC without having to navigate to another site.
I would also like to see, and agree with someone else, the "What does this have to do with fishing? Nothing!" moved up higher in the page

Capt dave,
I know it has nothing to do with the looks of the website and the layout, but if your trying to search for someone on the website, could you make it so that you can type in the name, or the letter. I was looking to see if someone was on this website and i had to click next 82 times... I know its not that big, but im sure a few others will run into this sometime also!
