East Coast Sports
Fishing Report for
April-21-2004

Piers

Surf City Pier Reports Lots and Lots of Sea Mullet a few big Spots and good numbers of Blues
Jolly Roger Reports Lots and Lots of Sea Mullet a few big Spots and good numbers of Blues
Sea View Pier Reports Lots and Lots of Sea Mullet a few big Spots and good numbers of Blues

Conclusion
All of the piers are doing really well on Sea Mullet. (must have very fresh shrimp) Fish on High Tide for the Mulet.. Big Spots here and there mixed in with the mullet. Plenty of snapper blues to keep the jiggers happy.

Surf

The Surf has not been near as productive on Sea Mullet as the piers have but there are still a few to catch if you find a slough.
New River Inlet to Surf City A few Sea Mullet in the sloughs as well as the occasional Flounder.
Surf City to Topsail Beach A few Mullet as well as the occasional Red Fish
Topsail Beach To New Topsail Inlet Afew Sea Mullet and Big 30" Blues in the inlet.

Conclusion
Go to the piers for mullet. Do not waste your time on the surf looking them. Go to New Topsail inlet for big Bluefish.

Waterway / inlet

A few Reds still in the creeks and sea Mullet on the southend in the canals with lots of tide flow at night.
Big Blues in Topsail Inlet fish with #1 silver Clark Spoons on 3 oz trolling sinkers with 40 lb Flourocarbon Leader.

Conclusion
Fish the inlet for the Blues. Wind is howlin and hard to find the Reds.

Inshore 0-20 miles

I heard the the first king caught inside 15 miles was caught this weekend. I am trying to find out for sure as we speak. A few pogys have showed up in the waterway and in hammocks bay. Bonita are still elusive being on the liberty ship one day and out 30 miles the next. If you do want to try for them, The Billy Murrell (34.14.83N X 77.42.83W) or Ar-360 (34.20.99N X 77.36.18W). Plenty of black Bass still inside at ar-355 (34.21.18N X 77.20.00W) Also Ar-362 (34.15.72N X 77.30.45)

Conclusion
Try for the Bonita with Clarkspoons but if nothing is happening go bottom fishing for table fare. Use FISHBITES for bottom fishing. The stuff is still impressing me.

Offshore 20 mile- 200 fathoms

What Happened? Did all the Yellowfin just spontaniusly combust. Have no report that is good for off shore so i wont even bother putting one down. Had lots of wind and no fish. Sad
