WoW!.... sorry I haven't been around in a while... all I've been doing is fishing, fishing, and occassionally sleeping... barely any time for food or whoopy... anyway... here in swansboro on the internal waters the redfish bite is AWSOME....! we're finding lots of 16 to 27in reds and WEARING them out on both the rising and falling tides.... we're having the best success on live shrimp and on spinner baits.... a few here and there on topwater baits.... there are a few speckled trout and black drum mixed in and lots of big sheepshead from 3 to 10lbs with some smaller fish mixed in... we're finding them on the grass flats and around pylons..... the summer and southern flounder bite is picking up on the internal waters as well.... along the beaches out to about 5 miles we're beginning to wear out the spanish in the 3 to 6lb range and have had as many as 25 to the boat in 2 hours... the summer flounder bite is good one day and so so the next... the recent storm stirred up the water clarity on the bottom nearshore and the bite has been tough but we've been managing 10 to 20 flounder in 3 to 5hrs. of fishing on both live and artificial baits... the flounder are ranging from 1.5 to 6lbs with about a few throwbacks (under 14in). The king bite has been at about 80ft of water and the small kings have showed up this week along the AR's and live bottoms close to the beach... Lot's of threadfin herring in the 25 to 40ft depths. Between Capt. Mike Taylor and myself we've managed to boat about a dozen cobia up to 72lbs in June thus far and that bite will begin to taper off... and pick back up around late sept. through early october when the big kings hit the beaches here around Bogue Inlet. Fishing has been on fire for us... hope everyone has had awsome trips.... here are a few recent photos... I'll attach another link with some more... but for more photos check us out at www.nccharterfishing.com.
