There has been much discussion about forming a new saltwater fishing club for the Central part of North Carolina The present thinking is to have a fun club that serves fishermen and their families. The basic idea is to provide fun, education and social events and help provide benefit to the fishing community. If the idea of weekend meetings where you can visit, learn and dine with fellow fishermen appeals to you and inter-club tournaments of various types might be of special interest this might be your chance to help start a new club. Although most of the people who have come forward so far are from the Sneads Ferry area a meeting place has not been decided on and will be addressed in the near future.
This club is not intended to be management heavy or a clearing house for charities. Although in the future charities, fishing reefs or public facilities might receive some help from the club or its members. There are a number of people that would like to have a fun club and not one which resembles a corporate business and no politics. Another concern is the new club maintaining minimum rules and governed by the members and not individuals.
Please remember the mission of this club is fun and fellowship by people with a common interest not empire building and saving the world from those with differing views. If there is an interest reply to newriverfishingclub@hotmail.com and you will be kept informed on the progress of this new and exciting club.
