I have been saltwater fishing for about 10 years, and was very unsucessful for the first few years. This earned me the nickname "Baitsaver" among my pals. Thats fine, I've got a sense of humor. I just bought a "new" boat with twin engines, which my wife has named "Double Trouble". The question is, do I stick with "Baitsaver", which is still appropriate, or go with "Double Trouble", which, unfortunately, is also appropriate? Thanks for the advice.

A nickname "earned" from your buds is priceless. They probably put alot of thought into it... at least one or two cans worth of time. If the pals that gave it to you are still around, they'll probably call you that no matter what... be proud of it. Cool

Before my boat came in I was fishing with friends whom told me when it arrived I had to name it and I agrred but didn't have a name in mind. We running outriggers that day and everyone was BSing when I happened to glance up at the outrigger clip and saw it pop open (great timing). I reached down beside me and grabbed the rod that was attached to that rigger/fish. By the time the slack came out and the rod began to scream and they heard the scream and spun around and I was holding the rod. They yelled you're a Da*# Rod Hog. Thus the history behind my name..

Let your fishing buddies name stick because as you've been advised it will anyway..

Mine came to me twice, so I had to take it.

First time was in college, we were talking about people who wasted their lives and ended up on skid row when a friend told me that I loved to fish so much, I would end up on squid row.

Second time was my very first gulf stream trip on my own boat. Me and my good friend Ron on board and we get into a double header of blue marlin! Heard some guy on the radio say "Them boys pulling the squid rows just doubled up on marlin"

And now you know the rest of the story!

I told my wife that when I got my boat I'd name it after my 4 year old daughter. I'm not sure that "Lil Rascal" was what she was thinking! Works for me.
