Greetings All,
Where to get the money to Dredge our shallow draft inlets seems to be the million dollar question.

Well...I have a Million Dollar answer....

The state of North Carolina and the Federal Government charge Highway taxes to on our fuel to pay for upkeep of the roads. It is this tax money that pays for this infrastructure. It is this tax money that we pay to acquire, build and maintain the infrastructure that runs our county. I have said from day one that the inlets should be viewed just like any other road or highway. They should be built and maintained just like any other road or highway out there. It should be THIS TAX MONEY that pays for these inlets.

I say we abolish the State and Federal Tax refund on fuel in NC for "Off the Road" use and this money is to be used to dredge the inlets of NC.

It is a tax we already pay....most folks don't take the refund anyway so it is a small amount out of the average rec boaters pocket....for the commercial guy it is just another expense that comes off the top...

I have a couple polls that have been running for a while now....Check them out....

I think this is an excellent method to fund this program....What do YOU think?
