Offshore Fishing Reports - Rough day on the Rough&Ready 08/19/07 - After ck'ing the offshore buoy's for 2hrs yesterday-morning, Joe decided to stay in-shore and see if we could find some gags. Headed out late (8am) and made our first drops 12m out in

Joined Joe and Steve (liquid addiction) yesterday doing some in-shore grouper-digging. The weatherman was OFF by a mile (but this time in our favor).
Got greeted by a slick calm pond and ventured out approx. 20nm
The gags where chewing and we ran out off bait by 3pm (guess thats what happens when somebody puts a 25lb box of bait in the cooler with only 6 minnows actually in that box Twisted Evil

)

Ended the day with about 3 boxes off keepers and proberly "released" 2 more boxes of shorties. Yep....make sure ya got plenty off bait.... for every keeper ya will be throwing back 3-4 shorties.

i am glad to hear someone is catching a decent amount of gags. we had our share of the reds and scamps but still trying to get our limit of gags this year. we had better luck with gags at the beginning of the summer but having a hard tme later in the summer. we are just getting a few scattered gags. of course rough and ready always gets their share lol

I had a blast fellas. Been back at work hitting those 12 hours days and haven't gotten on the puter lately.

Jan, I love sitting back watchiing someone else catch most of the abuse. You are the man of the day though. That was one hell of a fish. I just have to ask how you do it. How in the hell did you find that one retarded fish out of all those that were normal. Now I under stand why you like tieing your own knots. The retarded fish like to play with the big shiny things that you call knots. Wink

OK enough BS. That was a great fish. I really have a blast when I'm out there with you and Joe. It's non stop laughs with you guys. At least I didn't have to tie your rigs for ya. unibrow

By the way fellas. The fish were slamming us. They would hit and hold on for ever. I could see the bite on Jans rod and they would hold on for 2-3 secs. and actually wait for him to finally decide that he was ready to catch them. Capt. Joe made the call to fish and we had a perfect fishing day.

Yes I was the one that put a half of a box of bait on the boat thinking that it was a full box. I betcha that next time we won't give out of bait. Mad

On a typical day like this, how many spots do you guys end up fishing to catch that many gags? I think I probably spend too much time in one spot....Still getting limits this year...just not 3 boxes!
