Finally got a chance today to take Capt. Shane up on his offer and made the trip up to Morehead City.

We left the docks around 5:30 and headed to the 'secret' spot. Rick went over the safety brief and the strategy for clearing lines as Capt. Shane eased us through the fog. After a quick run to our 'secret' destination we put the monster gear in the water. Allright, the wait is on.
The wait didn't last long, by 7:05 the Starboard Rigger had popped and the 130 was screaming away. We jumped into action as Capt Don went to the screaming reel, Rick went to trip the planers and Wendell, Andy and myself cleared the lines. Less than 15 minutes later thanks to some teamwork, Shane stuck the harpoon in her, we tail roped her, locked on the swimming gaff and pushed her back out to swim out the lactic acid before she met the new secret weapon. ( I'll give you a hint, it has a battery and a reciprocating blade and she had no head when it was through) She measured out at 84", guess-timated somewhere around 230 Pounds.

We put the lines back out to no avail and called it a day around lunchtime. All told it was a great day on the water with a great crew. thumbsup

Pictures to follow, I took a disposable camera so they have to be processed first. Oh and did I mention my arm will be sore tomorrow ??

Had the pleasure of fishing with the crew of the Fight N Lady today. Shane, Rick and Don are truely a class act and lethally efficient! Thanks for allowing Andy and I the opportunity to tag along and participate in an amazing fishery. We're not in Alaska anymore Toto.

An awesome day and weather for mid December.

Wendell

I still have yet to catch my first bluefin but from what I've heard it's one of the most amazing fights of your life and that it is an extremely powerful fish. Cool Good job and great fish.
