I'm trying to find out some information about Ophelia Inlet in Core Sound. It is south of Drum inlet and was opened by hurricaine Ophelia 2 years ago. I understand the fishing is good in that area and would like to know if anyone has fished it or has any info to share. I fish out of Harker's Island and I'll be fishing Thurs thru Monday of this next week. Thanks

We went through Ophelia inlet. It was a bit hairy, but do-able. Only found 12-15 feet of water but heard it was 30 in places. Anyone have any info on fishing in that area? I'm trying to learn to catch Drum with a flyrod, but haven't found them. Any tips would be appreciated.[ [/list]

I have fished Ophelia inlet several time. I have done good some, bad others. First time I went I killed the puppy drum. Lately I have not done so well.

Oh one other thing, fishing with a flyrod for drum is good for whipping those flies into hard places. Here is what I would do if I was fishing there this week. With the water getting cool it will be getting clear. Use bright colored flies around large dropoff or near underwater sandbars. Good luck!
