Written By Billy Davis - The Continental Shelf

"Daddy was born March 8, 1916 in Harkers Island to his parents Stacy and Sarah Davis with eight siblings. Was married to Rosalie Lewis Davis for 72 years. Oliver and Rosalie had 5 children.Daddy started working in the seafood business with his father Stacy 75 years ago. Daddy and two brothers built the first Capt. Stacy headboat more than 50 years ago, then Oliver and son Billy had the Headboat Continental Shelf built 21 years ago.Daddy had an outgoing personality and never met any strangers.
His main thing was seeing the Shelf leaving and seeing her come in with a load of fish, now that made his day. He'd always tell me don't worry about it everything will be alright, no matter what. Daddy passed over the bar peacefully and was in no pain Friday Jan 11,08 at 1205 pm at home with his family by his side. He will be dearly missed by all. "

GOD BLESS the Davis family for the loss of a true Ol' Salt. I wish I could have worked with the old school farmers of the sea back in the day & what a beautiful place to work. May the holes in your net be smaller than your fish when your fishing with the big man in HEAVEN Oliver.
