I've never gone out of there, but would like to next week. Does anyone have any current info on the Inlet's status? I know it was dredged last year -- but is it passable now?

Thanks!

I went out thru it last month and it seemed to be in pretty good shape. Just stay in the channel and you shouldn't have any problem. Shallotte inlet is good now too. good depth all the way out and new markers.

I used Lockwood Folly on May 1st and it's in good shape.Stay near the bouys and try to use it on a high or middle tide.Seems like on low tide you get into water about 8 feet and with a sw or a south wind it can get pretty stirred up in there. Just take you time and read the water and you'll be alright.

The dredge was working on Lockwood Folly Inlet today. That's good news!

I went through at near low tide on 9/27/07 and had no problems whatsoever. They have been dredging and it shows. For now, at least, I'm very comfortable with that additional way out. Spanish have been hanging around there pretty well, too, for the last week or so I've fished around there.

Be real careful near low tide. Went out Sunday December 9th and had to stay near the red markers. It gets to around 3 feet at low tide just past the beach on the Holden Beach side.

There seems to be another sandbar developing across the inlet channel between Nun Bouy 6 and Nun Bouy 4. I went thru LW Inlet about 1 hour from low tide on Dec 8th and there wasn't much water in this area. This shollow area can been seen on the Corps Inlet survey dated 21 Nov 07, check it out. It seems to have gotten alittle worst since the inlet survey was performed.

At high tide now we only got 3 feet of water at red bouy number 6. WATCH OUT, there is a sandbar at that bouy that jets off of long beach. The Green bouy on that side was out of the water on dry sand the other day. I was out in the little boat sunday and watched 6 people hit a ground. Its is bad now, watched one guy stop the boat and walk his boat across that area. Not a good channel right now. I did go out of it saturday at full high tide and had no problems, going out stay close to the holden beach point, then after you pass the point get in the middle and watch your electronics because it is really tricky now.

Does anyone know when Lockwood Folly Inlet is scheduled to be dredged again?

I found the 2008 dredging schedule on the Wilmington District Corps of Engineers web site (http://www.saw.usace.army.mil/nav/Depths/DRSCH-11-26-07.pdf). If I am reading it right, it looks like the Dredge Fry is scheduled for Lockwood Folly early next year. Then it looks like the following dredging cycle isn't funded.

I sure hope that they hurry up and get it done, Lockwood folly is getting in bad condition. Shockwave, dont you keep your boat at sea aire cannal. You know Steve, and Darell. I was in there earlier this year, thats one pretty boat you have. Stop by the Rod and Reelshop next time you are down, would love to meet you. Cool
