There is PLENTY of it right here off the NC coast! It would tickle me to death to see it developed.

Thanks Capt. Dave lower fuel cost and fishing structure sounds like good idea. Sure seems to work good off the gulf coast.

My Congresswoman (Sue Myrick) just introduced legislation to open up domestic production.

I'll tell you one thing we all are mad at the oil co. but the gov. is making a killing and we are the ones paying for it. I read a while back that 18cent out of every $ goes to the state and 27cents on the $ goes to the feds. then the store gets about 5cents on the $ then who ever else and then the oil co. might 30-45 cent on the $but no matter how you look at it the gov. makes more money on the $ than the oil co. You stop and think every time there is a oil spil gas price goes up for a while, then it comes back down BUT not to were it was before the spil. And every time we send our troops off some were gas goes up and i know it does not cost anymore to make gas now than it did a year ago. I was talking to a driver for one of the oil co. and the way he told me was if we did not have to supply the mil. the air lines or the space program they could stop drilling right now and still have enough to supply the public on our own reserves for the next 10yrs. and what burns me up is they say oil is costing them 115$ a barrel and that is way gas is so high but why are we paying 4$ a gal for gas that was bought at 20$ a barrel thwat was when gas was $1.35 at the pump

huh?

Actually the state and federal taxes on a gallon of gasoline produce more for the government than the profit the oil company makes.

Airlines and military buy fuel just like everyone one else, so I am not sure what his point was.

Fact is oil is a world wide commodity and we have enough of it within our territory to supply all of our needs for the next 50 years, but our government CHOOSES not to go and get it.

I would love to blame all of this on the dems and the tree hugging enviro lunatics, but the fact is that the repubs ran the show for a few years and did nothing.

This is a POLITICIAN problem and unless we throw them all out we are going to have more of the same.

I personally don't think the oil companies are in any rush to recover the domestic oil anyway. They are making huge profits with the overseas stuff, so the oil under the US is just money in the bank for them for the future
