I am having trouble with my idle and starting into gear. My feeling is my diaphram has a hole in my low speed fuel pump. I have two fuel pumps. Do any of you know whether it is the pump above or the pump below that is the low speed fuel pump?

Sorry, I just found out what I was told was wrong. Both pumps operate at all times. It will just be a 50-50 shot as to which one is having the problems. Please respond if you have any suggestions.

Both fuel pumps operate at all times. they work off of crankcase pressure so if one or all go out the engine will not want to idle, and you should be seeing fuel in the water as the unused fuel will pass through the exaust. To test which one is the culprit loosen the two 10 mm bolts on the face of one pump about 4 or five turns and pull back on the assy. Squeeze your primer bulb and if fuel runs out of the hole on the back of the pump it needs to be replaced. Do both pumps seperatly to see which is the damaged one. If you find a bad pump order the whole pump as an assy. Much easier than trying to rebuild. I usually replace all if I find one bad b/c there only like 35 bucks a piece and when they fail can cause a lot of damage at the dock. If this does not help feel free to call me. Shaun,
