Alright so i have a jonboat, i fixed up all the holes and filled it with water in my backyard and didnt see anyholes. Than i put it in the water and there were like 4 holes. So i took it back out of the water put it back in the backyard put it on sawhorses filled it with water... there was 5 holes. Im getting very frustrated with it. Its an old boat, but there shouldnt be another hole everytime i use it. I left it in the water last night, the boat is about 1/4 filled with water from a tiny hole i didnt even see. Does anyone know of any cheap but good ways to fix this thing up once and never have to do it again!?! Thanks in advance.

I saw one sprayed with Rhino Liner on the interior of the boat. He said that it gave the deck a little cushion and was very durable. No more holes and dings for him after that. _________________ Mate on the Carolina Predator and Dirty Dog. |

Really not sure. I'm sure that its cheaper if you do it yourself. I believe they had some in stock at Grainger in Wilmington. Not sure of brand or price. Might be worth a call. _________________ Mate on the Carolina Predator and Dirty Dog. |

Steve,
you might almost be better getting a new jon boat than continuasly trying to patch up all these holes.....you said tha you bought this boat used wich gives me the idea that you got ripped off.......and its nmot worth the trouble.......tell your dad this and maybe he will be nice and kick in on some money .
you have been having problems with this boat for a long time now......and it almost takes the fun out if it.. _________________

Matthew,
We didnt "buy" the boat used, we GOT the boat used, for free. My dad has put in a ton of money into this boat.
Deepdrop,
yes im planning on doing it myself, do you know how much it will be just for the material?
Thanks everyone! _________________ "Reelaxin"

it is $20 a quart at walmart for the Herculiner, a couple of coats of that might take care of your leaks for a while. _________________ David Tedder

I have never done it myself so not real sure. I would definatly take a look at walmarts brand and try to find another brand to compare it to. Good luck with your new project. _________________ Mate on the Carolina Predator and Dirty Dog. |

Has anyone ever used or know anybody that has used Cabelas aluminum boat patch? It looks like it works and there are great reviews on it, but im looking for something that i can like basically paint over or spread over the rivets because its not a few big holes, its like a bunch of tiny tiny holes on the ridges that i just want to apply something that will spread over it and will work and last for a long time. Thanks again. _________________ "Reelaxin"

| heres the problem with "spraying" the interior. there are ribs inside and often times the rivets will work loose underneath there so that won't help those. I would recomend so good 2 part epoxy POR-15 makes some good stuff. then put the boat up on saw horses and fill it with water. Wipe off the bottom totally dry and watch for damp spots to appear. circle them, with black permenant marker and empty the boat. let it dry completely and then apply the epoxy neatly on the outside. |
