I have owned boats in the past, and I am thinking about buying one again. I am thinking about a 20-25' CC with a trailer. Any help on models to stay away from, or which ones to look at? I have not decided on price range or new vs. used, just in the thinking phase right now. Any help would be great, I am also thinking along the lines of getting an older boat and reconfiguring and repowering it to my personal taste, again, a lot to think about and looking for any help!

I'm partial to Cape Horns... very nice "fishing" boats! With gas prices how they are, I'd guess that you should not have much trouble finding a deal! _________________

Recommendations would depend an awful lot on where you are and what you planned to do with it. Are you going to run to the stream in SE North Carolina (65 miles each way?), trolling for tuna, mahi, etc or are you a bottom fisherman or a flounder pounder? It sure would change what I'd recommend. Also, with used boat prices dirt cheap right now you'd be better off buying it already pwered the way you want it. If you buy a new motor from a dealer he's going to charge regular prices for it not used prices. Plenty of used boats for sale with 4-strokes or DFI 2-strokes.

I want to do some bottom, flounder pounding, but mostly king type of fishing. I do not want to exclude taking the boat to Jordan lake now and again, but mostly off shore stuff.

How far offshore are you wanting to go to look for kings. The reaon I ask is that there are some good bay boats that are good for running in shallow water for flounder and are still safe to take ofshore, but not too far. I think the Triton bay boats are great boats and look sweet. The McKee bay boats are also good.
