| Well i said last year i wanted to get a bigger boat and i did. Last aug. i found a 1997 21.5 Angler 204 w/a with a 120 force. we have had the boat out 6 times now 2 times out of atlantic beach & 4 times out of south port. each time i check to see what the tide say and i have yet to put in unless i see the tides at 1-2 or 2-3 . maybe iam missing out on a lot of good fishing but after what happened in Nov. of 2002 i am a little water shy. all 6 times i have been out we don't get any thing but junk fish . i want to get into some snapper and grouper or kings or--------------well you get my drift. i don't have much as far as elect. just a hand held gps a tiger fish finder a under water camera with moniter ( 60' depth ) and a compass and a marine radio. now next fri. ( july 18, ) is my 57 birthday and my wife is treating me to a fishing trip at atlantic beach on wed. and thur. ( needless to say shes comeing too, so there goes the boat rules ) But it sure would be nice if i could get some suggestions from some one on where we can try ( boat fishing is kind of new to me ) i have a 55 gal tank but until i know this boat better i limit my self to a 30 mile range . And for those of you who are wondering about boat rules thay are simple. #1 Men if you drink then drink have fun and catch fish.(just don't get drunk) #2 rules for weman its 5mi.out, put out or get out... ( captians discression) i think the rules are simple enough but for some reason the wife don't think its funny and maybe thats why i can't get any girls to go fishing. THESE RULES ARE JUST A JOKE THAT WE WHERE PLAYING AROUND WITH ONE DAY iam not a pervert HA HA |

i dont know what happened in 2002 but you should always follow your gut. dont think of it as being chicken but be very aware of what can happen with mother nature. buddy up with other boaters, it seems more and more people are fishing closer in shore with gas prices. as far as quality of fish that may just take time and exp. dont give up and dont be afraid to turn around and fish another day. _________________ Robby

If your willing to go 30 miles, you have a wide variety of different fish, pretty big fish if you can hook them. But if you dont feel fully confident in the boat to go 30 miles, than dont! If i were you id stay in close and work your way out each time. Just have fun and stay safe.

| oh its not that i can't go futher i figure i have 55gal. @2mi to the gal i should beable to do 100 mi round trip but to play it safe i use 30 mi out as a stopping point so i will have close to a half a tank to play with if i get into rough water. so far i have not used more than 25gal. at any time we have been out. Now as far as being safe or chicken i don't know what kind of water this boat can take. the guy i got her from said he had been out in 4-5ft seas and had no problems. i have been reading some of the forms were some of you fish but when i look at the tide chart i see 4-5---5-6--3-6 and to me that seem a little rough. Maybe i am chicken. as far as Nov. 2002 we went out in a 17.5 sunbird corsair 175 and ended up in swells where you could see as far as you wanted to a the next min. you where looking up at a wall comeing at you a hopeing it wouldn't creast in the boat and still takeing on water faster than the bilge coud pump it out, no radio, no phone and ended up beaching the boat and it half full of water.$600 to get sea tow and one man in the hospital, lost rods and tac. . sea tow said in some ways it may have been good that i didn't have a bigger boat the way we came over the sand bars at LWF. but as far as going out wed. and thur. iam just looking for some good plces to try, the wife is from fla. and use to getting into kings with her dad iam not use to it heck it is all new to me but i keep trying. if anyone could give me some gps readings i will give them a try. |

You don't have to go far to catch fish. Beaufort is a big inlet Come out and turn left and troll along the beach towards the Cape Lookout light house, you will pass a very productive area called the dead tree hole always good for a king or 2. Cobia and Spanish also. if you get to the hook of the cape that area can be good for flounder drifting. If you go right coming out the inlet there are some Artificial reefs close by and good Spanish and King fishing along the beach. Stop in Joe Shutes tackle shop on the Atlantic beach causeway and ask where are the fish? _________________ PHOTO CONTEST

| I don't understand your reluctance to go fish the ocean base upon tides. Please explain? |

| i look at the forecast map where it shows the wave hight for a 20mi. out and go by that if it says 1-2ft or 2-3ft seas then i fill safe because i have been out in that but 4-5 or 5-6ft sounds a little to rough and again i said i don't know what this boat is able to do. it is a 1997 Angler 204 w/a 21.5ft with a 120 force at top speed 31.5mph and i figure 28mpg is a good speed where the boat planes out and rides its best. |

I think he may be talking wave height and not tides. _________________ Make something idiot proof, and they build a better idiot |

Don't feel bad I typically won't go if I see anything more than 2-3' seas. I love to fish its just not worth getting my a$$ kicked out there to do it. _________________ Yellow 210CC Sea Fox 200 Suzuki I moniter channel 69 ask for "Hook and Ladder" |
