I ama tournament fisherman. I have fished tournaments therefore I feel as though I have a right to so this. If people are going to fish a tournament then they shouldn't shift over into that mentality of " I paid my money therefore I'm going to do whatever I have to to try to win!" I was out at "E" bouy Sat. We decided to jig up some bait. There was about a 30 ft. Carolina Classic that decided he wanted to get on the bait pod that I was on. He ran up and cut me off from the bouy. Well I figured that I would just go around and get upwind of him and drift back across. Well he then decided that he didn't want me to get back on them. This guy ran up from no where and just jump all over my boat. When my fishing partner reached up and pushed his bow to keep him off my boat that's when hell flew in me. Remember that a 200 hspwer motor has alot of thrust from the prop. It makes it very hard to keep the bow of a boat off the bouy if someone wants to blow your bow on the bouy with prop blowout. This seemed to have worked when I almost blew him on the bouy. I will not give the name of the boat at this time but I can tell you that they will regret doing it. Just because you are fishing a tournament you still do not have any more rights than the man out for a good time. I have never treated anyone any different during a tourny and never will. You guys remember that an outboard will throw a hell of alot of water from it when you tilt it up to where the prop is just below the water and you gun the throttle. Let's try to keep it real fellas if your tourny fishing. You never know who you are trying to run over out there. It could be a big ass redneck that will hunt you down. _________________ Steve Brantley

You gotta be kidding me. I cannot believe someone with that much cahones that could own a 30 foot boat would behave like that. But that just figures you know. Hmm....maybe that would have been a good time to have tested out your flare gun?

Steve,
Unfortunately, this is too often the rule rather than the exception. It is one of the many reasons I rarely join in those tournaments. I fished many in years past in Lake Champlain. There are some of those same pea brains there as well. I have the option of not having to fish weekends to get my time fishing. This is for mostly the same reasons. But unfortunately some of those guys are out there during the week as well. I found one while anchored up last week in the area you describe. I thought he wanted to put his boat into my cockpit. He is definitely a mental midget. _________________ Sully

Holly crap!
If I have to push someone's boat off of mine there will be big trouble.
I'm glad you had a measured response. Although, I can imagine it wasn't easy.

steve, thats when you grab the 10 lb downrigger ball and take your best shot. i love to fish a lot of tournaments but you can fish and be respectful of others that are fishing.
i have heard of guys that are running to the scales disregarding all the laws and no wake zones.
fish and have fun but be respectful of others and be safe. ocean is a dangerous thing.
