| I jsut wanted to know if anyone knows why when I use the super map I never have any info in the little boxs in the bottom. All I get is the coords and depth but nothing else. Is there something I have to click to actually have that stuff appear? Thanks in advance! |

I'm not an expert on the SuperMap yet, but I am learning more with each trial.... It depends on what you are getting data for.... For instance, you won't get any info in the Chloro box unless you have the data pulled up for Chloro.... Another example -> you won't see your marine zone unless you are pulling up data for NWS Forecasts.
Hold / Pause your mouse over the area you want info for and it should appear in the boxes..(sometimes it takes a few seconds to show up).. on some of the features, it takes one single click for info to appear.. |

Fellows,
It is all what you get used to. IF you are on High Speed Internet service....using IE7 or FF.....I bet 6 mos from now you will throw rocks at I-Map.
I have heard some complaints about it being slow....but keep in mind that the server is STILL running tile cashing in the background. It will be another month before it finishes. I do not really have any problem with the speed.
The folks that I have seen having issues with it are on old browsers....IE6 or crappy computers that do not run real well anyway. My old laptops pushes it just fine. My wifes older computer runs it fine. Both are current on all patches and versions from MS.
In it's time I-Map was a good girl. As we get it all tweaked up and dressed up. I think Supermap will be the ticket.

Just for Shits and Giggles I hit the map with my Stop watch running....
Proceed to Map to Full Loaded ready to go... 12 secs.
Clicked on Satilltie....full load...1 sec
Clicked AVHRR .....full load menu....4 sec
Picked my Shot.....full load....10 secs.
Zoomed Onslow Bay....6 secs
Turned on Contours....IT is the slowest loading that I have seen becasue of the tile caching....12 Secs
Turned everything off....
Is this about what you are seeing?

| The only problem with your comments are some of us are still using dial-up. This is not by choice but rather location. I don't like the new supermap. Period!! I'll be looking elsewhere for this information |

Dave1273,
I have to tell you.....You have 1 post here. Your 1 post is is telling us how much YOU don't like something instead of thanking us for providing you several years of service FREE OF CHARGE.
This entire site is NOT built for Dialup. I have never said it was built for dial up and it never will be built for dial up.
Why not reach in YOUR pocket and buy I-Map and then YOU can provide that service for all!
I am sorry YOUR service SUXS! Have a nice day

Dave, was working with my neighbor earlier. He upgraded to IE7 and it made good difference in the performance. I'm working now on trying to find out how to selectivly upload some of my waypoints. Think I know how to dump all of them, but don't want to get the map too clutered. Before this, I always just looked for 34/77 and knew WR2 was within a mile and used this for a reference point to get started.
Man, I like this Supermap more and more as I continue to use it.
Thanks |

A GPX file is more or less just a database file....
Open it with Excel.....edit all you want....save as GPX and youa re good to go.
