I went out to the CB Inlet the other day at low tide. Man, it looked as bad as I have seen it in a few years. There was only about 100 yards of channel to follow and to get to it, you had to almost go on Masonboro Island. There were several islands in the middle where the old channel had been. If you haven't gone thru there this year, be careful. If you don't use it much, pay attention to the depth finder and follow the bouys all the way out. Just trying to give advice so I don't see anymore people running aground or involuntarily go swimming in the inlet.

Thanks for the info, have heard a few horror stories about that inlet this year already. We left and returned from there 2 wks ago, actually that is the main inlet we use, have not had any trouble so far this year and plan on using it this weekend. It may have been dreged recently, they were in the area on our last trip. We saw 8.5 on depth finder about 3 hrs after high tide. Anyone using this inlet definately needs to be aware of the tide and use extreme caution!! Hooked

we used to go out CB all the time, lately it's just been easier to go out masonboro. CB can get kind of stressful. _________________

Went out this weekend and had a ride like the one in the picture. I will not use the topsail inlet again anytime soon. I am new to ocean running in my own boat and this was actually my first trip out of the inlet. We ran up the island and came in at new river. Shallow between the bouys but had no problem at all. Went down to masonboro later in the afternoon. Went out to the bouy and turned around. Seas were alitle bigger than I wanted to run in.

seanuts, yea topsail inlet is horrible! the inlet is right across the boat ramp we use, but we use riches inlet now because the markers are all screwed up and they are like in a straight line????
id rather spend a few extra bucks and go a little bit further, than save some money and die. _________________ "Reelaxin"
