With the new regs for this season, we will have Friday, Saturday and Sundays available for charters from late November all the way through December. I am actually tooking forward to winter this year! Laughing

Got the A/C and heat added to the boat this past weekend. The heat will really come in handy this winter fighting those big beasts.

Give us a call ......

Current regs allow the recreational fisherman to keep one BFT per boat per day measuring 27 to less than 73 inches.

Our current rate is $1000 for up to six people.

Lynyrd1 - I hear you. Tried it with no luck on my outboard several times.

What was the problem catching them on your outboard?

Rerun - Thanks for the compliments on the boat. Real proud of her and that means alot. Last year they started showing up the mid to later part of November and action was extremely hot in January. Pick anytime in between. Laughing A lot depends on the weather, shad showing up and the migration pattern. First signs in our area are usually when guys king mackeral fishing on the East side get spooled by one.

Chumrunner - this was a few years back, but I would say experience, I limited ourselves to two rods and I know I am a much better rigger now than I was then - so presentation. Not so much an OB thing, but just a timing thing from where I was then as to where I am know. (Plus I am working with a pretty good Captain now). Wink I know there are a lot of BFT caught from OB's. The only disadvantage an OB propbably offers is size of the boat and with the seas being what they will be at that time of the year, it was sometimes difficult to get out when you want to.

I also though you could keep one BFT over 74 inches on a recreational permit per boat per year.

http://www.nmfspermits.com/News.asp#news217

In addition to the daily retention limit, the Angling category trophy fishery for large medium and giant BFT (measuring 73 inches or greater) is open in all areas, with a retention limit of one fish per vessel per year. All BFT landed MUST be reported within 24 hours of landing to the www.nmfspermits.com website or by calling 888-872-8862 or, if landed in the states of North Carolina or Maryland, to a reporting station prior to offloading. Information can be obtained in North Carolina by calling (800) 338-7804

I will be bringing my boat up from southport to moorehead nc this winter. I need 400 lbs sushi, taking all of jan to fish BFT

Well oldmonitor............ Let me know how to get a 400lbs on deck !!!!!!!

That's my biggest concern... I fish with a 23' cuddy pro-line and still have not figured out how to get one of these monsters back on-shore.

Do you just "tow" them?????

Hoist from the far side of my T-Top on to a back board, get it half way and swing it in. Towing will work but thats a long haul in cold water

Hi everyone its been a while since I have been on the boards. Sounds like some of you are ready as I am. I would not advise on the towing part you do not want to be bruising the meat at all & most of all sharks love Tuna! I will see if I can find the link but I had a friend last year to have a huge shark about jump in the boat as they were fixin to stick a Tuna & they had it all on video. Anyhow lets go catch a GIANT!

well there isn't much preference by the bft as to the engine you have. it is all in the presentation of the bait and conditions. peek time seems to be middle of jan. i fished with several boats last year and got skunked on all of them. of course i can't blame anyone since on two of the days that we fished there were only one bft brought to the marina for sale. i hope to have much better luck this year as i will be taking my own boat to morehead as well as divnnc will also have his boat up there so hopefully between the two of us we will land a couple this year. by the way, capt shane, you do have a beautiful boat and the new heat and ac will be great. i hope everyone has a great bft season., david
