Surf temperatures are quickly increasing to near 70 degrees, closely followed by coastal wind patterns shifting into the summer pattern. On-shore winds as the land heats up, then switching to offshore as the land cools.
I fished the afternoon falling tide using some cut mullet. Small pieces on straight-shanked hooks and managed to pick up some small whiting and a 14" bluefish. The bluefish hit in groups about mid-way through the falling tide.
Be sure to find the sandbars. I like to always be throwing my baits into whitewash. Many people stay in one spot when surf fishing. Be mobile. Do not be afraid to walk the beach until you find the right bottom. It always amazes me how fast the fish can turn on or turn off when surf fishing.
