| Robby, CB inlet can be navigated safely, it does have a narrow channel near masonboro island. The dredge was working last week. It can still be tricky though. I think I saw the latest survey that Capt. Dave posted recently, you may want to look at that. Also, if the inlet looks sloppy, masonboro inlet is only about 7 miles north and is a much friendlier inlet to navigate, and it's only a 20 min. ride back down the waterway to C.B. GOOD LUCK&STAY SAFE! |

Ive never been out of the inlet but heres what i have to say.
If it looks like your going to have trouble getting through the inlet, travel a little further spend a few extra bucks for gas to not total your boat or put your life in danger.
We went out on thursday and was looking for an opening in riches inlet, which is the inlet we use all the time, we had to use topsail inlet because it was the closest inlet that we were able to get through.
My point is, Stay safe! _________________ "Reelaxin"

hey capt. dave would these 3 waypoints be good reference points to the marking cans? if the channel is marked i can manuver with the markers. i just wanted to make sure there wasnt any thing laying in the channel like is in lockwood (wreckage). _________________ Robby

Look at the survey above. It shows everything there is to know about it.
There is no wreck across the inlet.
The buoys to the best of my knowledge have not been moved to the new channel.

Robby,
I go through that inlet 2-3 times on average per week.
If you want, I'll ride out it with you and you can mark the channel on your GPS.
Dave is right. The right wind and swell/wave direction on a falling tide can kill you!!!!!!!! |
