Got the Bada-Bing out a couple of times last week, mostly joyriding in the sound. Last offshore trip the raw water washdown system started leaking from three different places. While I was down at the beach I replaced all hoses and fittings, but the pump now won't come on. Also noticed that the horn wasn't working.

The washdown pump is a little rusty on the outside (been installed for four years), is it possible that the pump got fried because of all the leaks? Or, more likely something else since the horn went out at the same time too?

Thanks,
Joe

Hey Joe, Check your fuses first then check and see if you have power at the pump. If you have power then the pump is probably shot.

After checking fuses and power at the lead. If it's one of the Shurflo wash down pumps that shuts on/off by itself based on water pressure, a demand pump, then you can also disassemble the square pressure switch that is on the end to check for debris around the diaphragm. 2 cautions, there is a screw in the center, that is the tension screw which adjusts the pressure at which it opens, don't touch unless all else fails. Second, remove the outermost screws disassembling the housing, carefully noting the orientation of the switch parts inside which will tend to fall out.

Much appreciated guys. Back down to the beach next week so I'll have at that washdown system again. Maybe get some fishing in too if the weather cooperates.
