Yes, there is a scammer that has been browsing this site. His name is Maxim from the UK, or so he says. He emailed me today, said he wanted to buy my Penn Reel. That ad is only on fryingpantower. Everything sounded legit, except when he wanted my address so he have his accountant send me a check and then his shipper would come pick the reel up and take it to his warehouse. That's when it started becoming odd to me, but I thought well maybe he is a business man in the reel business.. THEN tonite I get an email from him that says his accountant mistakingly wrote the check for $1500 and wanted me to cash it, take out my payment, then send him the excess back. I didn't like the sound of that. I forwarded the email he sent me to Scott, who is at work right now. Scott just called me, yes at 3am...lol.. to tell me that this guy is a SCAM artist working what is called an Overpayment Scam. Looks like somebody is bout to be reported and given a swift kick in the..... I wanted to let everyone know that there is a sh*thead running around this site and trying to con people..

Please make sure you send me copies of every E-Mail he sent you.

There are a couple problems here.

#1 The entire world is banned from this site except the USA. There is a single IP to England open but it is for a friend of mine, and fellow webmaster. (No it is not the guy you are dealing with)

#2 There are a TON of wierd O's in the world. Always BE careful! Did he PM you or E-Mail you. Did he have a username here? If so do tell! I will solve that problem!

Please hit your forward key and send me copies so I can look at the headers. Do not cut and paste them. Forward them. I will track him down and try to make sure that he does not bother anyone else.

I do my best to protect ya'll from some of the CRAP that goes on in the internet world. At best it is an ongoing battle.

Thats a common scam, glad you caught it, if it sounds too wierd or too good to be true and came by way of internet, steer clear! Just like the bogus emails that request you redo your passwords or update your personal information for banks or credit cards, never do anything an email asks of you without verifying it by phone or some other means, there are plenty of lowlifes trying to get over on trusting people!

Dave send him some or your own friendly emails, LOL!

You should tell him ok and get him to send you the check. As soon as you get it take it to the police so they can try to get fingerprints from it.
