Inaugural East Coast Waterways & Beaches Symposium

Please take a moment to mark your calendars for August 12th as Carteret County welcomes the “Inaugural East Coast Waterways & Beaches Symposium”, organized by the Bogue Banks Beach Preservation Association. This one day event runs from 8 am - 4 pm and includes a breakfast reception, lunch, and an afternoon professional exchange break for a registration fee of $35. The site of the symposium is the Royal Pavillion Resort & Conference Center in Pine Knoll Shores, N.C.

The purpose of the event is to provide an educational forum with industry, academic, and government experts furnishing information and views regarding the economic impacts of beaches & waterways, actual mechanics behind maintaining beaches & waterways, and the current political dynamic at Federal and State levels that are affecting the public perception and use of these resources.

The link below includes the electronic version of a flyer/registration form that was mailed to various outlets in State and includes the symposium agenda. The field of speakers are an assembly of top National and State experts in their fields representing The National Marine Manufacturers Association, N.C. Port Authority, Univ. of South Alabama, Camp Lejeune, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, and the National Waterways Conference.

Our waterways and beaches are a tightly interwoven economic, recreation, and environmental medium that often require a systems-based management scope. The symposium is geared towards this “big-picture” approach.

Seating is limited and the Royal Pavillion has special symposium room rates for those requiring overnight lodging. It would be great to see you on August 12th for this special event.
