Joint Gatorman and Capt Joe yesterday for some good ol hardcore bottom-bouncing. For them it's making a living, for me it's ALL fun!! Specially it being a comm. trip so no worries about limiting out.
Hit the pond at 06:30 welcomed by flat seas and a nice breeze, ran out 50+ miles till we got to our 1st spot, 120ft water, temp 85.6, and a scope lit up like Vegas at night!! GAME ON from the first drop. Reds,BIG scamps,strawberries,speckled hinds, HUGE beeliners and the useall "trash"
(including a couple 6ft+ tigers)
If this would have been 6 man charter you would have head back for the hill before 09:30!! 32 groupers on the 1st stop THEY WERE CHEWING!!!
Moved on and it was steady picking all day with some PIGS (30lb+) to keep it fun. Mostly scamps and reds but Gator even managed to catch a 15+ hog-snapper (his 1st ever)
(I did learn the hard way a 4/0 is TOO fast on a PA reel, I lost A BUNCH nice pigs, by yanking the hook, so instead of a "lolligagger" now it's "capt pop-off) Laughing

If I had of known you were going to go from one extreme to the other I would not have called you a LOLLIGAGGER real sick

Sounds like you guys had a hell of a trip. I get my 4 day next week , maybe Capt. Joe will have extra room om the boat. I had a great time with you guys when I went. I'm still going to catch a grouper on a little smokie. Anyway, I'm going to have me one of the new style rods before long. I think Capt. Joe has a winner with that one.
